The Dreame L10s Ultra arrived in September 2022 as an ambitious attempt to create a truly hands-off cleaning robot. With its all-in-one dock that empties dust, washes mops, and even adds detergent automatically, it promised something close to a “set it and forget it” experience. Three years later, it remains a capable machine, though newer models have since arrived. Here’s what you need to know.

What You’re Getting

This robot launched at $1,399 in the US, though prices have dropped dramatically. You can regularly find it around $800, and clearance deals have pushed it as low as $300. The package includes a gloss white robot with a matching tower-style base station. There’s only one color option, and only one version of the L10s Ultra (don’t confuse it with the cheaper L10 Ultra without the “s,” which drops the AI camera and automatic solution dispenser).

The robot itself is a fairly standard disc shape at 350mm diameter, but it packs a LiDAR turret on top and an “AI Action” camera module up front. The base station is substantial, standing over 22 inches tall and weighing nearly 20 pounds when empty.

Hardware Specifications

Robot dimensions: 350 x 350 x 97mm, 3.7kg

Base station: 423 x 340 x 568mm, 8.9kg

Suction power: 5,300 Pa maximum. Note: some third-party listings incorrectly advertise 18,000 Pa, which is simply wrong.

Battery: 5,200 mAh lithium-ion. Dreame claims up to 210 minutes on the quietest vacuum-only mode, but expect around 150 minutes in typical mixed use. That’s still enough to cover most homes without needing a mid-job recharge.

Dustbin: 350ml onboard, which is small by design since the dock empties it automatically. The dock’s bag holds 3.0 liters, roughly two months of debris.

Water tanks: The robot carries just 80ml for keeping mops damp. The base station houses a 2.5L clean water tank and 2.4L dirty water tank.

Navigation: A spinning dToF LiDAR handles mapping and navigation, while an RGB camera with 3D structured light sensors tackles obstacle avoidance. Dreame claims 24 total sensors onboard, including cliff detectors, wall sensors, ultrasonic carpet detection, and wheel encoders.

Brushes: A single “Tri-Cut” rubber main brush with tangle-resistant grooves, plus one side sweeper on the right.

How the Mopping Works

Two spinning microfiber pads rotate at about 180 RPM under the robot, actively scrubbing as they go. The small 80ml onboard reservoir keeps them damp, while the base station refills water as needed. What sets the L10s Ultra apart from many competitors is its automatic detergent dispenser. You fill a reservoir in the dock with Dreame’s cleaning solution, and the system mixes it at roughly 1:200 concentration.

The pads lift about 10mm when the robot detects carpet, enough to keep low-pile rugs dry. For thicker carpets, you might want to mark them as no-mop zones in the app.

After cleaning, the dock takes over. It sprays water on the pads, spins them against textured grooves to scrub off dirt, and pumps the dirty water to a waste tank. Then a hot-air dryer blows warm air (around 40-45 degrees Celsius) for up to two hours. The result? Pads that actually dry out instead of sitting damp and growing mildew.

Does it replace manual mopping entirely? Not quite. It handles daily dust, footprints, and light stains beautifully. Floors genuinely look and feel cleaner. But dried-on spills or oily kitchen splatters may need multiple passes or some pre-treatment. Think of it as excellent maintenance cleaning rather than deep scrubbing.

The App Experience

The Dreamehome app (iOS and Android) handles everything from initial setup to scheduling. It’s not perfect, sitting around 2.9 stars on Google Play, but it’s functional and feature-rich once you get past the occasional bugs and connectivity hiccups.

Setup requires 2.4GHz WiFi (no 5GHz support). The robot can do a quick LiDAR scan to map your home in minutes without actually cleaning, and you can view the results in 2D or 3D. From there, you can split or merge rooms, name them, draw no-go zones and no-mop zones, and save multiple floor plans.

Customization runs deep. You can set different suction levels and water amounts for each room, schedule cleaning by room on different days, and trigger spot cleaning by tapping anywhere on the map. Voice control works through Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts, though commands are basic: start, stop, dock.

One standout feature: remote video monitoring. You can see through the robot’s camera in real-time, drive it around manually, and even use two-way audio. It’s essentially a mobile security camera. Dreame claims the video feed is encrypted and the device is certified for IoT security standards.

The catch? Everything runs through the cloud. If your internet goes down, scheduled cleanings won’t trigger. You can still press the button on the robot manually, but that’s it.

The Dock: Your New Cleaning Assistant

This is where the L10s Ultra earns its “Ultra” name. The dock handles four jobs: emptying the dustbin, washing the mop pads, drying them, and adding cleaning solution.

The auto-empty system uses a “DualBoost” approach, blowing air into the robot’s dustbin from one side while vacuuming from the other. It’s loud for about 10 seconds, but it clears the bin thoroughly. The 3L dust bag lasts roughly 60 days in a typical home, maybe 30-45 days with pets.

For mopping, a removable base plate with textured grooves scrubs the pads when the robot docks. Water management is straightforward: empty the dirty tank and refill the clean tank every few cleaning cycles. The app will remind you when it’s time.

Maintenance tasks:

  • Empty dirty water and refill clean water every 2-5 cycles
  • Check and clean the robot’s HEPA filter every week or two
  • Remove hair from the main brush weekly
  • Rinse the dock’s base plate occasionally
  • Replace the dust bag every 1-2 months

What’s in the Box

  • Robot vacuum with main brush and two mop pads pre-installed
  • Base station
  • One side brush
  • Two dust bags (one installed, one spare)
  • HEPA filter (installed in robot)
  • Cleaning tool with blade for cutting hair from the brush
  • Power cord
  • Cleaning solution (sample bottle)
  • User manual

Ongoing Costs

Yearly expenses run roughly $50-80 depending on usage:

  • Dust bags: About 6-8 per year, around $6 each ($20/year with third-party options)
  • HEPA filters: Replace every 6-12 months, about $15 for a 2-pack
  • Side brush: Replace every 6 months, around $10 for a 2-pack
  • Mop pads: Washable but may need replacing after a year or two, $20-30 for 6
  • Cleaning solution: Optional, about $15-20 per bottle

Dreame sells an accessory kit for around $90 that covers most of a year’s replacements.

Real-World Cleaning Performance

Hard floors: Excellent. Independent tests show around 98% debris pickup. Dust, crumbs, and hair disappear in one pass. Heavy debris like dry rice gets collected, though the side brush might occasionally scatter a piece or two. Very fine sand may need a second pass.

Carpets: Good but not exceptional. The single rubber brush handles visible debris well, but pet hair embedded in carpet fibers can be stubborn. RTINGS scored it poorly for pet hair pickup on carpet compared to dual-brush systems. Low-pile carpets and rugs work fine; thick shag carpet over 20mm may give it trouble.

Obstacle avoidance: One of the L10s Ultra’s strongest points. The AI camera consistently avoids socks, cables, pet toys, and even pet waste. RTINGS gave it 7.9/10 for obstacle handling. It works in the dark thanks to LiDAR, though the camera needs some light to identify small objects. Highly reflective surfaces like mirrors can occasionally confuse the LiDAR.

Speed and coverage: Thanks to LiDAR mapping, the robot takes efficient straight-line routes. Expect around 60-70 minutes for 1,000 square feet on standard mode with vacuuming and mopping. Coverage typically exceeds 95% of open areas.

Noise levels: Around 58-59 dB on quiet mode (gentle enough to have a conversation), 68-69 dB on turbo (noticeably loud). The auto-empty cycle is the loudest part at 70-75 dB, but only lasts about 10 seconds.

How It Compares

Against 2022 rivals like the Roborock S7 Max Ultra and Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI, the L10s Ultra holds its own. It offers automatic solution dispensing and mop drying that Roborock lacked, plus better obstacle avoidance than most competitors. Roborock edges ahead on carpet cleaning thanks to its dual-brush system, and its app is generally more polished.

Compared to newer models like the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the L10s Ultra gives up some ground on pure vacuuming power but maintains its advantage in obstacle smarts (Roborock’s S8 Pro lacks a front camera). Dreame’s own Gen 2 version doubled suction to 10,000 Pa, though real-world cleaning differences are minimal.

The value proposition has only improved with time. What launched at $1,300+ now regularly sells under $1,000, sometimes well under. For an all-in-one robot with this feature set, that’s competitive.

Known Issues and Limitations

Suction claims: Some retailers listed 18,000 Pa suction, which is simply incorrect. The actual spec is 5,300 Pa.

Runtime: The “210 minutes” claim only applies to quiet vacuum-only mode. Normal mixed use delivers around 150 minutes.

Object recognition: Dreame talks about 6 categories and 30 home scenarios, though some marketing suggested “128 objects.” The real-world avoidance works well for common hazards but isn’t infallible in poor lighting.

Cloud dependency: No internet means no scheduled cleanings. The robot will work with the physical button, but that’s all.

Size: The dock is large. Plan for about 1.5 feet of width and some clearance on the sides.

Corner cleaning: Like any round robot, it can’t physically reach deep into 90-degree corners.

Firmware bugs: Early updates caused occasional quirks like navigation issues or premature docking. Most have been patched. Keep your firmware updated.

Black floors: Very dark surfaces can trigger false cliff detections, a common issue with any robot using infrared cliff sensors.

Warranty and Support

Standard warranty runs one year in most regions, two years in the EU. In 2025, Dreame announced three-year coverage for new purchases. Extended warranty plans are available for around $50 per additional year.

Dreame’s customer support gets mixed reviews. Some users report quick warranty replacements; others have faced delays. The company maintains an active presence on Reddit (r/Dreame_Tech), which helps for troubleshooting. The user community has compiled extensive FAQs and tips.

Firmware updates continue to arrive, with improvements to obstacle avoidance and navigation rolling out since launch. The device gets smarter over time.

The Bottom Line

The L10s Ultra represented a genuine leap in robot vacuum automation when it launched. Three years later, it remains capable and competitive, especially at current street prices. It keeps floors clean with minimal interaction, handles mixed environments intelligently, and dramatically reduces the time you spend on routine floor maintenance.

It won’t replace a deep manual cleaning for stubborn messes, and carpet performance trails dedicated vacuum-focused robots. But for households wanting a true all-in-one solution that vacuums, mops, empties its own dust, washes its own mops, and dries them afterward, the L10s Ultra still delivers.
